Sarah Coren, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York. Dr. Coren attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she earned a BA in Psychology. Dr. Coren then moved to New York City, where she worked as a research assistant and clinical research coordinator at the Neurological Institute at Columbia University Medical Center for several years prior to attending graduate school.
Dr. Coren received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. During graduate school she completed training externships at Westchester Behavioral Health Center – New York Presbyterian Hospital, NYU’s Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and NYU Child Study Center, the Center for Psychological Services, and Bergenfield High School. She completed her predoctoral internship at Northwell Health – Long Island Jewish Hospital / Zucker Hillside Hospital. She has provided workshops to parents on CBT strategies for helping anxious youth. Dr. Coren completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Westchester Behavioral Health Center.
Dr. Coren works with children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families. She supports the youth and families with whom she works through collaboration, creativity, and compassion. She has an affirming and inclusive practice that provides all individuals with a safe place to explore their unique identities, increase engagement in meaningful relationships and activities, and discuss their emotions. Using evidence-based approaches, her areas of specialty include anxiety and related disorders, mood disorders, and parent support. She has specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) for addressing anxiety and related disorders. She also has been trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) for treating adolescents and families experiencing emotional and behavioral dysregulation and interpersonal challenges. In addition, Dr. Coren has an interest in working with youth and adolescents who identify as LGBTQ.
